In a ceremony on Rome’s Campidoglio yesterday, Mayor Gianni Alemanno made the Dalai Lama an honorary citizen of Rome.
Hundreds of people gathered in Piazza del Campidoglio, eager for a sight of the holy man as he entered Palazzo del Senatorio where the ceremony took place. As the mayor presented the Dalai Lama with a bronze replica of Rome’s famous La Lupa statue (see above), crowds watched on a jumbo screen set up in the piazza. (That photo of Alemanno giving the Dalai Lama a She-Wolf statue really make us giggle here in the eCool Compound.)
After the ceremony, the Dalai Lama greeted his fans from the balcony of the Palazzo del Senatorio.
